Double-faced politicians and dirty politics

I have lost all respect for the four Perak state assemblymen who stood with DPM Najib during his press conference announcing that BN now has the majority to rule the state.

With the benefit of hindsight but without evidence, we can surmise that the two ex-PKR state exco members were entrapped with money and women and their cases are up for trial on February 10. Faced with a choice of a possible jail sentence and loss of position, or freedom and most probably millions, these two morally weak politicians’ decision was a no-brainer.

The state assemblyman for Bota has skin like onions, which could be peeled from wearing Umno colours to that of PKR and days later, peeled again to show his true Umno colours. I believe he was used as part of a plan to have PKR start the ball rolling so that BN can now turn round and say that it was PKR who started it. His act was most despicable and yet his reasons included democratic principles, of all things.

Newly ex-DAP state assemblyman for Jelapang, Hee Yit Foong really surprised me because she is physically handicapped and I had been telling people that rumours of her jumping ship was not true because I would expect her to be grateful for having been given a chance to stand for election for a second term (if I am not mistaken) and even given a Deputy Speaker post. Could she get any better offer by jumping ship, if not like what my wife suggested, because of the all mighty $$$$$? It could not be simply because she was upset with YAB Lim Guan Eng’s statement that any representative not in contact for 24 hours is considered having left his or her position.

Now we can only hope that our Perak Sultan would decide to give his Royal consent for the dissolution of the state assembly to be followed by fresh elections. This is the best course of action to settle once and for all, the true wishes of the people in Perak.
I hope the voters of Perak would be given the chance to end the political careers of the gang of four so that they can have more time to enjoy their millions.

According to tonight’s NTV7 poll, 96% said BN will suffer in the next General Elections because of what happened in Perak. It will be a case of winning this battle but losing the war.

Before these latest developments, Raja Petra had predicted the following:

If fresh state elections are held, Pakatan Rakyat may sweep at least 40 seats, leaving Umno with just 19 seats. MCA, MIC, Gerakan and PPP will not win a single seat. That is why Umno would not want fresh state elections, or even two by-elections. If they allow this to happen they will get wiped out and Pakatan Rakyat will increase its margin of seats even more. With a 21-seat majority it will be impossible for Barisan Nasional to continue dreaming about taking over Perak.

On Umno’s boast of its 3 million members and BN’s total of 5.5 million members:
"Pakatan Rakyat has just one million members or so. Yet they garnered 3,796,464 votes. The bottom line is: Pakatan Rakyat got almost four times the votes compared to the members it has, while Barisan Nasional could not even get the same number of votes as it has members."
