Pak Lah’s Last Waltz

To us, ordinary men in the street, the question that runs in Pak Lah’s mind is expected to be the opening line ‘I wonder should I go or should I stay?’ of the popular ballad sung by Engelbert Humperdink as he walks into the BN meeting scheduled for this afternoon.

Of course, the reality must be that he has already made up his mind based on the information gathered, rumours heard, and advice from the Fourth Floor team. Much as he wants to carry on according to his personal or supporters’ wishes, he cannot escape the reality of the situation which includes a possible embarrassing lack of nominations if he so wished to stand for re-election, or election, since he was actually appointed by Dr. M before.

Will he be cool enough to stick to his decision before the meeting or be affected by what the other coalition partners have to say? Is his decision going to be a surprise to everybody or according to one of the scenarios speculated so far? The next few hours seem so long to pass.
