Home alone and a taste of Molotov bin

I had been ‘home alone’ for the past 2 weeks, not that I am complaining but the thought of dying when the rest of my family are overseas scares me a bit.

Apart from my usual breakfast ‘kakis’, I tried to be on my own to feel for those who are forced to be away from their loved ones. Even with all the things to entertain myself, the mood is just not there.

Some time ago, I have written about how a student of SYS threw a bag of our own rubbish, discus style, right up to our front door. Last night, on the eve of Hari Raya, a group of kids (below 10 years old) screamed and I heard a loud bang. It turned out to be our empty plastic bin knocked against our gate. Though I think (giving them the benefit of the doubt) it was not directed at me but at our dogs, especially the over-active one called ‘Lucky’ (what a misnomer), which has the tendency to challenge those students who walk past. Stones have often been thrown too. The question is ‘what happens to children’s discipline?’ Is there no respect anymore for people’s property?
